Home Gym Flooring
Getting the right home gym flooring can make a huge difference to your workout experience. Thanks to the Internet, you can obtain the same type of professional flooring that you see in professional gyms without spending an 'arm and a leg'.
The floor of a home gym is generally covered in a rubber floor covering for several reasons. The main one is that it provides a safe environment in which to exercise. The rubber floor is water resistant and provides a certain amount of cushioning. Many products are slip resistant, which is important if you are lifting free weights. It also reduces noise caused by weight machines or dropping a dumbbell.
You have a number of options when choosing your home gym floor. The first is to get a contractor to lay wall-to-wall rubber flooring. This is probably the ideal solution but it is also the most expensive. A good alternative is to get interlocking rubber floor panels and cover the area that you will be working out in. An advantage of this is that when certain panels wear out, you can just replace those pieces rather than the whole floor.
The least expensive option is to buy some work out mats that you strategically place in your home gym. This is likely to be underneath any equipment and in your free weights area.
If you are planning on installing a home gym, put some time aside to plan the flooring and décor before you get any equipment installed. It's all too easy to spend so much time planning what machines you are going to install that you neglect some of the basics. Also, it's just so much easier to get the flooring completed if you don't have to move heavy fitness equipment about.
